What is the FAFSA?

FAFSA is an acronym that stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It is the form that must be filled out by all students who wish to participate in Federal student aid programs such as Direct and Perkins student loans as well as Pell Grants. For undergraduates the first submission is done on or after October 1st of the student’s senior year. (See link on Resources/Link tab.)

What is the CSS Profile?

The CSS Profile is another financial aid form that is required by 200+ schools (mostly private, but some state schools as well.) The Profile is unique to each college that requires it. There is a group of common questions, but individual schools customize the form by choosing supplemental questions to ask. This form is submitted through College Board.
